As well as many ad-hoc requirements, the main areas supported by the team are as follows:
- Digital map data processing, preparation, storage and maintenance
- Healthcare data (primary and secondary care organisations and boundaries) maintenance and storage
- Region-wide small-scale maps, regional boundaries, contractor and provider sites
- Localised analysis and large-scale maps as required, e.g. at individual PCT or provider site level
- Hospital activity analysis to support commissioning and service development, e.g. admissions or attendances, GP referrals
- Analysis at individual patient level (postcode), postcode sector/district/area, electoral ward, GP practice, PCT or other geography as required
- Travel and access analysis for provider and commissioner sites, including travel isochrones and related population analysis
- Health Needs Assessments; including General Practice, Pharmacy, Dental and Sexual health services
- Population statistics maps
- Emergency planning/incidents analysis and mapping
- Targets monitoring analysis
- Ambulance journey analysis
- Website (maps) development and maintenance if required
The outputs from the HealthGIS service can be delivered in a number of ways:
- Interactive web-based application “HealthGIS Maps” where users can tailor maps to their needs, with facilities to; turn layers on/off, zoom in/out, label features, run queries, draw features/text, create PDF/JPEG outputs
- Printed maps; from A5 size up to A1
- Electronic map documents; PDF documents suitable for on-screen viewing and printing, or JPEG images suitable for inserting into reports or presentations
